Computer vision

Computer vision is a set of technologies, processes and devices engaged in activities that simulate the human ability to identify the patterns in images – to see.

Today's stage of development in computer vision is still in its early infancy in comparison to humans. But continuous development of technology, decision-making algorithms, mathematical models and the increased processing power will allow computer vision to become an increasingly better replacement for the human eye.

Computer vision systems are already used to replace human visual perception; for example as product quality control, management of technological processes, robot control, analysis of laboratory images, management of daily tasks etc.


Computer vision systems ensure repeatability of processes, reduce production costs and can reduce harmful impacts of the production processes on the environment. The company Abelium is developing methods of computer vision for applications in:

  • classification of products with self-learning programming models under demanding conditions of recognition (e.g. partially visible objects),
  • automatic control of products and recognition of movement of parts of the material,
  • 2D and 3D imaging with detection and recognition of objects.
